Eye heart eye primer.......and of course Sephora.

I love eyeshadow, but I'm an oily mess and get seriously irked when I get a giant crease in my shadow in the middle of the day.  I've tried a bazillion "remedies," but to no avail.  During one of my random Sephora-browsing days (which happen waaaay too often, according to my husband), I stumbled upon a cosmetic gem:  Urban Decay Primer Potion.  Just sweep a tiny bit onto your entire lid with your finger, and then apply your shadow as usual.  No joke --- you will be crease-free for hours and hours.  The best part?  The Potion comes in 4 shades!  I have the original sheer primer and also the gold-toned "Greed."  When I'm in a rush, I just sweep the "Greed" on my lids before a coat of mascara and head out.  You can choose your favorite shade and either wear it alone or use it to give your shadow a fun new hue!

**A lil' note from me:  Anytime a product I love is available at Sephora, I will let you know.  I prefer buying anything I can from there, because you can sign up for a free "Beauty Insider" card and then rack up points and get superfun prizes.  I'm embarrassed to admit that I have an entire drawer in my bathroom devoted to free (and I use the word "free" loosely) Sephora gifts.  I will say, however, that I've been introduced to lots of fun new products this way!

Thanks a lot, Rachel

Check out the pic below of one of my besties, Rachel, seconds after giving birth to her first child.  I'd say PhotoShop was involved, but this photo came as a text from her husband's iPhone!  If she can look like this after birthing an 8-pound human, we should all be able to look semi-decent going to the grocery in the middle of the day.  Talk about raising the bar for the rest of America's expectant mothers!!!  Ugh :)

Mmmmm.......Moroccanoil

Hello.  My name is Meredith, and I am a product whore.

I'm not ashamed of my addiction, but I've decided it's time to share my current obsessions with the general public.  Right now, I'm all about all things Moroccanoil.  Never heard of this hair phenomenon?  Get ready.  After this, if your hair could send me flowers and a thank-you note, it would.

For years I had extremely curly hair, and then I woke up one day in my early 20's and it was just frizzy and straight-ish.  Naturally, the flat iron became my best friend.  About a year ago, my hair stylist started carrying a product called Moroccanoil.  It is literally a bottle of oil that you work into wet hair before blow-drying.  The stuff changed my life.  It cut down on blow-dry time, got rid of frizz, and now I only have to lightly run the flat iron through.  Just when I thought it couldn't get any better, they came out with an entire Moroccanoil product line!  If you can stomach the $20-25 per bottle price, the shampoo and conditioner are both totally worth it.  Serious.  And for all you curly-headed folks, I haven't forgotten about you.  Moroccanoil makes an amazing curl cream that isn't sticky and gross like gels and mousses can be.

Check out the products and learn more HERE
You can buy them on Amazon or use the Salon Locator on the Moroccanoil site to find a retailer.

Tell me your thoughts after you try it. You're welcome!!!

How-to of the week: Let's talk lips.

Ok so I have to admit --- I used to hate lipstick.  I was all about tons of eye makeup and clear gloss, but I've turned a corner.  I love a bright red lip, and for the summer I'm sort of obsessed with coral.  However, when attempting this trend, keep in mind that there are some important ground rules.  Here are some tips:

FOR ALL BOLD LIPS:
- Start with a good lip moisturizer.  I'm an old-school lip balm gal, and my personal fave is Burt's Bees.
- ALWAYS go easy on the eye makeup when doing a bold lip.  I like a thin line on the top lid, a shimmery, sheer sweep of shadow, and lots of mascara.  Oh and don't neglect the brows.

RED LIPS:
- You need 3 components:  a dark red/brick-colored liner, a deep red matte lipstick, and a rich red gloss.
- Everyone's skin tone is different, so make sure the red you are choosing looks right with yours.  The best way to do this is to swipe it onto the back of your hand and make sure the lipstick tones go well with your skin tone.
- Never line outside of your actual lipline.  Sometimes I even like to put the lipstick on first, then follow the shape of your lip with the liner, and then add the gloss.
- No ifs, ands, or buts about it:  you will get lipstick on your teeth.  Make sure you keep checking for it.

CORAL LIPS:
- No liner needed for this fun summer trend.  Just a matte coral stick and a shiny coral gloss.
- Be careful when choosing corals, just as when choosing reds.  Some skin tones might look best with an orange-y coral, while others will look best with pinkish coral.
